Learning for Life Curriculum at Waseley Hills
Our Learning for Life curriculum includes the statutory frameworks of Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE), Relationships and Sex Health Education (RSHE), Citizenship and Careers Education Information and Guidance (CEIAG). It is delivered in both a weekly timetabled lesson and tutor time sessions as well as in assemblies and drop down ‘Experience Events’ as part of our Learning for Life programme. Throughout Learning for Life curriculum, we aim to help them to be happy, healthy, confident pupils who will be able to stay safe in a rapidly changing society therefore being able to meet their true potential.
Pupils experience lessons within three main topics of Physical and Mental Wellbeing, The Wider World and Relationships and Sex Education. Through these topics, our pupils will be prepared and ready to transition to the next stages of their education, students will be given vital opportunities to think about their futures in either education or the world or work. Pupils will be prepared to be able to self-manage their lives and stay safe in both their immediate and distant futures and be great citizens. Key topics relevant to their age and development will be studied and discussed; pupils will be made aware of any laws related to these subjects. Each year group covers a range of interesting units which develop the wider KASE skills alongside specific themed content
Students in all year groups 7-11 engage in our RSHE curriculum during their timetable Learning for Life lessons in the Autumn term; thus, to reinforce the importance of this important education area. Our Learning for Life PSHE and RSHE curriculum utilises CRST trust resources which are sequenced, spiral programme that builds on prior knowledge from key stage 3 and 4. Our Learning for Life curriculum focuses on three core themes:

The Learning for Life curriculum is taught safe learning environment and is underpinned by our schools' values, they delivered throughout weekly timetabled lesson and/or culture time sessions as well as in assemblies and drop down ‘Experience Events’. There is flexibility in our schedule to allow us as a school to respond appropriately to any local/regional/national events that may occur.
